The theme of the day is <em>Urban Studies of Istanbul<\/em>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universiteitleiden.nl\/en\/staffmembers\/mehmet-kentel#tab-1\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.universiteitleiden.nl\/en\/staffmembers\/mehmet-kentel#tab-1\">Mehmet Kentel<\/a> (Institute for History &amp; Urban Studies, Leiden University) will talk about the many panorama paintings that were made over the centuries of Istanbul and about his work on a newly opened exhibition on this topic. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universiteitleiden.nl\/en\/staffmembers\/fokke-gerritsen#tab-1\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.universiteitleiden.nl\/en\/staffmembers\/fokke-gerritsen#tab-1\">Fokke Gerritsen<\/a> (NIT, LIAS) will present a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nino-leiden.nl\/event\/nino-eol-najaarslezing-de-dorstige-stad?fbclid=IwAR3pWFnGMGIPcpGNf6-q2NPoTmRpQ5heoXTkz092P17pQK7qZtXjkiD2evw\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.nino-leiden.nl\/event\/nino-eol-najaarslezing-de-dorstige-stad?fbclid=IwAR3pWFnGMGIPcpGNf6-q2NPoTmRpQ5heoXTkz092P17pQK7qZtXjkiD2evw\">lecture<\/a>, co-organized with NINO and EOL, about water heritage in Istanbul and an ongoing project to increase the appreciation of water heritage in times of climate and water crisis.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#7f0000\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Tijdens de NIT dag vertellen stafleden, gastonderzoekers en studenten over hun onderzoeksprojecten en studieactiviteiten. You are also welcome to walk in to join one or two presentations. Participation is free, and it is not necessary to buy a museum ticket. Presentations are held in the language in which they appear in the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Netherlands Institute in Turkey is located in Istanbul. Since 1958, it supports researchers and students who are interested in the academic study of Turkey in the past and present, from archaeology to contemporary urban studies. The institute staff participates in several research projects in the fields of archaeology and heritage studies. The institute offers BA and MA-level courses, fellowships to advanced students, and PhDs and maintains a sizable scientific library. There are regular opportunities for students to participate in fieldwork projects. From 2021 onwards, NIT has been embedded in the Humanities Faculty of Leiden University.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#7f0000\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Iedereen is welkom, binnenlopen bij een of enkele presentaties is mogelijk. Deelname is gratis en er hoeft geen kaartje voor het museum gekocht worden. Presentaties worden gehouden in de taal waarin ze aangekondigd staan.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#7f0000\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Het Nederlands Instituut in Turkije bevindt zich in Istanbul. Sinds 1958 ondersteunt het onderzoekers en studenten die zich bezighouden met Turkije in heden en verleden, van archeologie tot hedendaagse urbane studies. De staf van het instituut participeert in verschillende onderzoeksprojecten op het gebied van archeologie en erfgoedstudies. Het instituut biedt onderwijs op BA en MA niveau, biedt fellowships aan gevorderde studenten en promovendi en onderhoudt een grote vakbibliotheek. Regelmatig zijn er mogelijheden voor studenten om zich aan te sluiten bij veldwerkprojecten.
